ABSTRACT: The Vedder fauna is a Hemingfordian (middle Miocene) assemblage of land mammals from the dominantly marine Branch Canyon Formation in the Transverse Ranges of southern California. Five species of extinct rodents (Eomys sp., Pseudotheridomys cuyamensis n. sp., Mookomys cf. M. altifluminus, Proheteromys sulculus, and Proheteromys magnus) from the Vedder locality, UCMP locality V6761, are described.
